SALES ENGINEER

The WMF Sales Engineer will hunt new prospects, build long-term customer relationships, and monitor market activity. The Sales Engineer is expected to converse intelligently with target customers who are knowledgeable on metal fabrication, precision machining, product development, and other technical specifications. The ideal candidate will exhibit a “consultative approach” when reaching out to new leads. Overall, the sales engineer pursues new opportunities and always seeks to add value to our customers.

This position reports to the Vice President, Sales.

ROLES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a robust understanding of WMF’s customers, services, and capabilities.
  • Research potential customers and acquire new sales by calling on buyers, engineers, and management personnel.
  • Develop relationships with WMF’s existing customers to enhance relationships, seek additional opportunities, and gather market information.
  • Coordinate with WMF management by submitting activity and results reports, such as weekly activity reports and other periodic analyses to meet sales metrics and KPIs.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, delivery schedules, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Resolve customer issues by investigating problems, developing solutions, and making recommendations to management.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending continuous trainings, educational sessions, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Contribute to WMF’s long term strategy by accomplishing related duties as needed.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years of technical sales experience
  • Technical background or related exposure, such as engineering or technology
  • Knowledge and experience with manufacturing (sheet metal / machining), industrial, or assembly processes
  • Experience working with engineering personnel or other technical buyers
  • Adept at using social media & software to assist with sales efforts (e.g., LinkedIn, CRM, etc.).
  • Driven individual who is personable and a team player.


Compensation consists of a base salary plus commission (uncapped) and is proportionate with candidate’s applicable experience. Other incentives include mileage reimbursement plan.

NEW ADDITION TO WMF

MEET CHUCK : WMF’S NEWEST TEAM MEMBER

Washington Metal Fabricators welcomes Chuck Bogert to our team. Chuck has worked in the metal distribution and fabrication industry for over 25 years. We know these years of experience will be beneficial to our organization.

Chuck is joining WMF as a project manager. He will be helping out in multiple departments including purchasing, sales and estimating, and production coordination.
